L'uomo innamorato, si trova a dover scegliere, è nell'incertezza. Il desiderio d'amore. La posizione dei due innamorati in alcuni tipi di tarocchi è di unione nella parte inferiore del corpo e distaccato dal busto in sù, ricordando una "y" si suggerisce quindi la lettura della carta come rappresentazione di un bivio, di una scelta a livello amoroso.
L’iconografia di questo Arcano Maggiore è molto varia ed è mutata nel corso del tempo. Rappresenta l’amor sacro o l’amor profano, libertà, scelta, libero arbitrio, affetti puri ma anche attrazione carnale e passione. Promesse e desideri da realizzare.
